Joe Paterno's statue should be removed, Bobby Bowden says

Legendary former Florida State football coach Bobby Bowden says Penn State should remove the statue of Joe Paterno because the statue will be a constant reminder of the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

Bowden made the comments in a radio interview with Cory Giger in State College, Pa.

"Should his statue be removed? In my opinion, yes," Bowden said.

"Now the reason is, Penn State's job now is to try to forget this thing. But every time somebody walks by and sees that statue, they're not going to remember the 80 good years, they're going to remember this thing with Sandusky.

"Just think, every time you go to a ballgame at Penn State and they shine a camera on that statue, that's going to be brought up again.

"So if I was Penn State, if I was Joe's family, I'd say, 'Move on from all that stuff.' "

Of course, an even better reason to remove the statue from outside the Penn State football stadium is because Paterno knew what Sandusky was doing and did nothing to stop it, seemingly more concerned with the school's reputation than Sandusky's victims.

What do you think? Should the statue be removed, or should it remain?
