Saint Valentine's Day Massacre On this day in 1929, Al Capone's gang put a hit on a rival Irish gang, killing seven mobsters in a North Side of Chicago neighborhood. The massacre brought increased attention by the federal government to the violence going on in Chicago, which ultimately led to Capone's downfall. |
